Industrial Systems Training

Industrial Systems Trainings (INSTs) are workshops led by DOE experts that train participants on how to identify, implement, and replicate energy-saving projects. Energy Intensive Industries Pilot participants host an on-site, three-day training at one of their facilities, and invite others to attend. Technical expertise gained through the INSTs helps companies overcome common, critical barriers to adopting energy management practices and technologies.

The existing Better Plants Virtual In-Plant Trainings (VINPLTs) are also available as a means of continuing these interactive training workshops. The link provides details of the previous training, along with tools, recorded training sessions, and briefing material.

Treasure Hunts

Treasure Hunts are onsite three-day events that engage cross-functional teams of employees in the process of identifying operational and maintenance (O&M) improvements. The Department of Energy has developed the necessary tools and materials to help with each individual phase of the treasure hunt process. This toolkit provides the treasure hunt facilitator with the tools needed to effectively plan and prepare for the event, successfully run it, and track the results.

Peer-to-Peer Networking Opportunities

Participants in the Energy Intensive Industries Pilot can engage in peer-to-peer learning opportunities among other participants and engage in working groups to discuss barriers and identify solutions.
